Shaping mobility in a way that meets the needs of people and can be seamlessly utilized. That is the ideal vision of an integrated mobility of the future. Experts from the mobility industry discussed the barriers and necessary changes to create a seamless mobility experience under this year's theme "Seamless Mobility - Accessible to Everyone, Everywhere?".
Federico Magno, member of the Executive Board at Porsche Consulting, reflected on his pleasantly effortless journey to the event in Berlin at the beginning of the discussion – all thanks to an integrated mobility application on his smartphone. According to him, using different modes of transportation during the journey worked smoothly. However, both the expert panel and he reached a consensus that this was an exception. At present, seamless mobility is not readily available everywhere and for everyone.
What is the key to such integrated mobility?
Keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Philipp Rode, Executive Director of LSE Cities at the London School of Economics & Political Science, is certain that one of the most important aspects includes accessibility to transportation modes and compared various international metropolises in this context. Dr. Meike Niedbal, State Secretary in the Berlin Senate Administration, Björn Bender, CEO of Rail Europe, and Dr. Stefan Seer, Head of Integrated Digital Urban Planning at the Austrian Institute of Technology, further highlighted the challenges faced by public transportation and shared mobility services, providing exciting insights for a transition towards a more efficient, integrated future of transportation.
