At major airports, different agents—including ground handling, airlines, and service providers—need to work smoothly together in order for an aircraft to take off on time. To identify the main drivers of outbound delays, Porsche Consulting created a holistic causal network that models the complex turnaround process. With more than 100 variables, it identifies the main drivers for outbound delays and thereby provides valuable insights to increase punctuality.
Accelerated customer service
Time is critical in customer support. Certain incidents can cause a spike in customer complaints that used to lead to long wait times for responses. Porsche Consulting trained a state-of-the-art text classification model to automatically route customer complaints to the responsible professional within seconds. The AI reads thousands of e-mails and classifies them, reducing manual effort and response times while increasing customer satisfaction.
Optimization via a digital twin
In one of the world’s busiest port regions, an integrated logistics provider operates hundreds of container movements per day. To cope with the increasing complexity, Porsche Consulting developed a digital twin, allowing the client to find the best solution in terms of cost reduction and revenue increase. The tool uses live data of truck traffic between container yards and the port as well as customer sites. It compares complex scenarios considering all operational processes from automated identification of data gaps to improved proactive planning and finally to fast recovery of lost equipment. The optimized operations generated a business impact of multimillion annual value creation in this case—and the tool can now be rolled out globally.
Robust planning of investments
Planning investments for new products in the upcoming five to ten years can be a challenging task with a high risk of deviations. At a major industrial company this used to be a bottom-up-process with thousands of employees involved with their estimations of investment needs from Research and Development budgets to the construction of new production lines or facilities. Porsche Consulting developed a robust forecasting tool that enabled the company to turn investment planning into a top-down process while increasing forecast precision by over 40 percent and significantly reducing the decision time.
